About CMDF
Objectives
CMDF is a ministry by Christian doctors and dental surgeons for Christian doctors and dental surgeons. We exist to serve the local fraternity of Christian medical and dental professionals to be all that God has designed and called us to be. We exist to complement the church- to serve the specific needs of Christian medical and dental professionals so that they can better be ‘salt’ and ‘light’ in the workplaces. We exist to complement other para-church organisations so that we can together advance the purposes of the Kingdom of God.
VISION & MISSION
Our vision is for every Christian doctor to matter and count for God in their service and life lived. Our mission therefore is to edify- encourage- motivate and equip Christian physicians and dentists to glorify God:
- by living out the character of Christ in their homes- practices- communities and around the world;
- by pursuing professional excellence and christ-like compassion in their daily work;
- by influencing their families- colleagues- and patients toward a right relationship with Jesus Christ;
- by advancing Biblical principles in bioethics and health to the Church and society; and
- by being a Christ-like role model and example for the next generation of medical and dental students.
History
CMDF Singapore was formed in 1973 under the pioneering leadership of Prof Khoo Oon Teik- Prof Phoon Wai Onn- Prof Tow Siang Hwa- Prof Wong Poi Kwong- Dr Tan Cheng Imm- Dr Wong Hee Ong- Dr Chew Pin Kee- Dr Aw Swee Eng- Dr Evelyn Hanam- Dr Bobby Sng- and others. Soon after CMDF hosted the International Congress of Christian Physicians in 1975 and became an affiliate member. The ICCP has since been reconstituted as the International Christian Medical and Dental Association (ICMDA)- and by our affiliation with ICMDA- CMDF Singapore networks with numerous national Christian medical fellowships in more than 30 nations across the globe.
